How to Plan for Rain on your Wedding Day | Wedding Planning | Root & Arrow Photography

They say rain on your wedding day is good luck right? It might sound crazy, but we actually love rainy wedding days.  There's just something about that moody light! We are prepared to shoot in the rain- our gear is weather sealed & we've always got a secret stash in the trunk of rain boots, jackets, at least one clear umbrella & anything else we might need. But what can you do to make sure the rain doesn't ruin your plans?  Here are some tips!

Have a Plan B- First, make sure you have a plan B for everything. If you are getting married or planning to have your reception outdoors- plan ahead for bad weather & make sure you have an indoor location if needed. However, if it's not a monsoon, we recommend you purchase clear umbrellas for you & your bridal party (& appropriate footwear- there's nothing worse than wet feet all day). We love when our couples brave the rain & it can make for some killer photos!

Portraits- Like I already said above- the clear umbrellas/boots is our favorite way to roll for rainy wedding days! But, if that's not possible we recommend you find some alternate locations for portraits. Try finding outdoor areas with cover from the rain or indoor locations with a lot of natural light. Make sure locations are large enough to accommodate your bridal party.

What to Bring- I'll say it again- appropriate footwear is important. You don't want to have wet feet all day! Rain boots are always a super cute option. Also plan for hair/makeup touch ups in case it's really wet.

Embrace it- The last thing we want to tell you- embrace it! Embrace the rain, the dirty dress, the wet hair, all of it. Remember what this day is really about & don't let anything stand in the way of having the best day ever.
